Seek, and ye shall find.
Hello all. This is my first blog post, and hopefully there will be many to follow. This blog will be about my devotions, and about my personal life. It is about Michie DeBerry as he walks with God. May it minister grace to your soul.
Today’s post is out of Matthew 7. Matthew 7:7-8 says Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. And Matthew 7:13-14 says
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
So, I began to meditate upon these verses. At first, I thought that these verses applied to the unsaved against the saved. God told me to look at it in a new way, He told me it applies to all the saved people. Just because a person is saved does not mean that they are living life, they might be living out destruction. How many times do people go through something difficult and then question it, themselves, or God? Too many times! They are not living a spiritual life, but rather an unspiritual life. There are so few people that find a deep intimate relationship with Christ because not everyone is actively seeking it. If they are not finding it, then they are not seeking it. Are you seeking it?
Also, I would like to point out to all of you that the word “receiveth” in the Greek means “To lay hold of that which is offered.” Our heavenly Father knows what things we have need of before we ask, so why do not we just lay hold of that which is freely offered? One such promise is abundant life, as given to us in John 10:10. It is a freely offered gift, but yet do we not accept it? Do we not lay hold of it? The Bible clearly tells us that we are blessed with all spritual blessings when we are in Christ. Why do people have problems accepting the fact that they already have all the grace they need, they already have the mercy that they need. They already have the abundant life and the ability to obey the Bible. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. We must humble ourselves and lay hold of the promises of scripture in the presence of God.
My heart is deceitfully wicked. He told me that I need to start praying for the desire to seek God in a more intimate and real way. I did, and He has been giving me understanding that I’ve never had, and I’ve been through things spiritually in the past week that I never have. I have a new excitement and a new joy. I can honestly say that I am reaching out for the abundant life. Seek, and ye shall find.
